Julius Baer Bank in Singapore

Julius Baer Bank in Singapore

DAS, in partnership with Apres Marketing Pte Ltd and WEY Technology, installed 49 positions for Julius Baer in November last year, 20 days ahead of schedule.

Julius Baer Bank is the leading Swiss private banking group with the largest international presence of all Swiss private banks, with over 40 locations in more than 20 countries.

Julius Baer has been officially present in Singapore since 2006 and in the last several years has been awarded ‘Best Private Bank” in 2008 and 2009, and “Best Boutique Private Bank in Asia” in 2010.

One key priority for the new move located at Marina Bay, was to reduce the heat generated by PCs and monitor screens, due to the continual issues they previously had with air conditioning.

WEY Technology uses a suite of desktop integration tools that facilitates the consolidation and standardization of the screen environment helping to control the heat issues within the trading floor.

DAS o8 desks were fully equipped with HP screens and WEY MK06 keyboards, becoming one of the most technologically advanced trading floors in Asia. Due to DAS and WEY Technology solutions, traders can now work in a quieter and more comfortable environment, resulting in high performance trading.

WEY’s oneDesk suite of desktop integration tools enables the user to control all the essential services, sources and applications on fewer screens using only one WEY multifunctional keyboard. oneDesk saves the trader time, which is the crucial element in successful trading.

The DAS o8 desk not only makes cable access easy through the use of the innovative sliding top, but also increases usable work surface by 25 per cent. Using WEY’s TwP Remote V Light solution, all PCs were remoted to a centralised system room where they are protected, cooled and maintained effectively. The remotisation of the PCs ensures that floor space is used as efficiently and effectively as possible. Installations, moves and changes are now accomplished quickly and efficiently without any operational downtime.

Mr Gerard Berclaz, Managing Director and Head Markets Asia Pacific at Julius Baer comments: “We were the first department of Bank Julius Baer to move into Asia Square and to switch to Microsoft 2010 at the same time. I was very impressed by how smoothly the whole move took place and how fast the traders got used to their new environment. We had a few challenges, but thanks to the efforts provided by all people internal and external on Monday morning, no one in the market noticed that we had moved to Asia Square over the weekend. And this is the most important at the end – same but different”.

KUR!O event in DAS showroom

KUR!O event in DAS showroom

Last night DAS and CBS, in association with Blueprint, held a KUR!O photography event in the DAS showroom, which proved to be a huge success.

Those who attended were entertained with a very interesting and thought-provoking presentation by leading Interior and Architectural photographer, Chris Gascoigne

Chris gave an inspiring talk about his work and how he has developed his stunning photographs over the years. What the audience found particularly interesting was the frank way Chris described the benefits and indeed hindrances that modern digital photography can have on his subject in comparison to the traditional film photography he learnt growing up.

Chris then gave a brief to the audience, who each set out newly-inspired to capture an impressive architectural shot within a tight 30 minute deadline! He encouraged them to give every photograph that little bit of extra time and thought and to look further into the subject they were framing. The challenge was to find a letter of the alphabet in every shot.

Some amazing imagery was found around the Appold Street showroom which resulted in both stunning and creative photography Chris was thoroughly impressed with the talent demonstrated.

Anna Shaw from AES Architects took the winning picture and won a Nikon P500 camera.
