DAS USA Green Building Project

BBH Solutions & SKYed provide efficiency technologies to DAS showroom: Pursing LEED certification...

With sustainability in mind, we are pursuing a LEED certification for our new New York City showroom. SKYed was brought on as the LEED consultants and are currently guiding the project towards its green building goals as we complete our tenant fit out at 875 Avenue of the Americas.

BBH solutions provided technologies that are designed to increase efficiencies while lowering corporate carbon footprint. State-of-the-art voice communication services are supplied via a cloud-hosted Cisco Unified Communications Manager located in one of BBH Solutions' secure Network Operations Centers, and data applications are accessed via a secure 10Mb Ethernet VPN connection back to our London office in Appold Street. Cloud hosted applications help reduce corporate carbon footprint by lowering electrical usage that is normally needed for on-premise data center power and cooling. To reduce costly and polluting corporate air travel, Polycom Room Telepresence video conferencing was installed, providing a secure link for "face to face meetings" with participants across the globe.

All equipment installed on the project is Energy Star compliant; a government backed programme helping businesses to protect the environment through superior energy efficiency, including all monitors, computers, printers, a mini refrigerator and dishwasher. To further reduce energy consumption, a highly energy efficient SEER 16 HVAC unit was installed to replace inefficient window air conditioning units, which were removed and reused elsewhere in the building.

Over 75% of construction waste has been recycled or reused, diverting it from entering landfills. Additional environmentally friendly aspects include the use of low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints and adhesives, Milliken Green Guard Certified (Negative Carbon Status and Zero waste to landfill) Ghost Artist Facade Carpeting throughout, and reclaimed/reused/redeployed materials (both raw materals and furnished furniture).

Our LEED registered showroom will allow ourselves and BBH to show off our growing contributions to green building and technology practices.
